After miscommunication with the court officer, the case of 'Saharat' a labor rights lawyer was disposed by the court. He met with the judge and threatened to file a complaint and posted on Facebook criticised the court's behaviour.

"Saharat", was prosecuted separately in two cases. The first case under Contempt of Court was proceed by a Labor Court Region 1 and later the Supreme Court sentenced him to 3 months in prison. The second case public prosecutor filed a case at Phra Nakorn Sri Ayutthaya under insulting the court and Computer Crime Act. Later, in the second case, the sentence was suspended.

 

Defendant Background

'Saharat' was 37 years old when the case started. He is a lawyer. Previously he was a human rights volunteer of Thai Voluntter Service, year 3 and worked as a legal officer of Omnoi-Omyai labor center in Nakorn Pathom and Samut Sakorn. He ws also a legal officer at Labot Crisis Center.
