On 20 November 2017, Thanat who is serving his 10 years and 10 months prison sentence for committed offenses under Lese Majeste law in two different cases was transfered by the prison authorities from Bangkok Remand Prison to prison in Ratchaburi Province, the prison authorities neither provide advance notice nor reason with regard to his transfer.

Later in January 2018, Thanat was brought to the Ratchaburi Provincial Court where he was a copy of complaint which provided that he was allegedly committed Lese Majeste offense while gave public speech during a political rally of the Red Shirt in Ratchaburi Province back on 8 August 2010. This case is Thanat's third Lese majeste case.
